Love Print

Looking for something sweet on the topic of love? Doug Hyde's art is a welcome departure from the cliche romance artist's work. Giving You My Heart is a unique piece done in pastel. I'd have to say that art like this would melt any girl's heart. You can't go wrong with this print, boys.

Favorite New Poster

Today, I discovered a great new poster. It is a photograph of Elowah Falls by Alan Majchrowicz. This is a stark black and white poster. I am naturally drawn to black and white art because there is no color to detract from the beauty of the scene itself. This is a poster which will look great on my wall. Art like this would look great on your wall too.

Rejoice!

While he is widely recognized for his poignant, well-researched military aviation paintings, William S. Phillips also has a feel for life closer to the ground. Through a growing series entitled, 'Phillips Bay,' the artist offers images of a small coastal town throughout the seasons.

In this particular 'Phillips Bay' painting, we are given a peek of the town's Fourth of July celebration. A group of swans float serenely on the bay before clusters of warmly glowing homes while bright fireworks illuminate the sky above. 'Rejoice' gives you a sense of warm summer nights, quiet celebration, and a pleasant calm.

This gorgeous canvas sports an added nuance of interest. Painted in late December of 1999, the artist signed 'William S. 1999' seconds before midnight of the 31st. In the early moments of the new millenium, then signed 'Phillips 2000.'

Poofy Guy on a Short Leash

James Christensen, known for his clever whimsy, recently released an instant classic entitled, 'Poofy Guy on a Short Leash.'

'Poofy Guy' is a likely symbol of marriage and the interaction between man and wife. The Poofy Guy is a little self confident, has seen a lot of life, and doesn't want to admit he needs help. The woman, however, is right there to keep things reigned in and to offer her gentle, kind assistance in life regardless. As the artist himself puts it, 'Thank heavens guys like us have someone holding onto us. Otherwise, we'd just spin off into the atmosphere and pop!'

Christensen's bold imagination can be seen in everything he does. Even his religious paintings generally have a touch of fantasy. Be on the lookout for his trademark fish, which can be found in many of his pieces.
